This Easter weekend we had the pleasure of enjoying a bit of paradise. My friends and I packed our bags and headed to the east, to be exact, to La Ribera. DeVonna Simpson, our colleague who runs the office in town, lives in the area and helped us in renting a house in a residential area just outside town. Playa Colorada is a beachfront development where you can find serviced lots and estates that can run from a traditional-Mexican house to a more contemporary designed residence. Within Playa Colorada, we rented Casa Bitsy: a quaint three-bedroom home one block off the beach. Needless to say my friends and I were delighted with the bright interiors, the spacious rooms, but most importantly, our view:
Once we were settled and food was in the fridge, all six of us headed straight to the beach. Nothing but blue and turquoise waters ahead of us. Nothing but a soft wind blowing… and for a couple of hours, this piece of earthly paradise was ours.
The next day we felt adventurous, so we decided to explore the area and went to a beach called Los Arbolitos, near Cabo Pulmo, where several families were enjoying the sunny day. We spent such a relaxing morning! We did some snorkeling, filled ourselves with lots of Vitamin D (thanks to a clear sky), had a light lunch, played some games… but most importantly, we enjoyed every minute in Los Arbolitos.
Back home, and after a lazy dinner by our terrace, we had a walk by the beach… can we say our beach? We saw the sun go down behind the mountains leaving an orange sky and made wishes as the stars began to spark. Where else can you find this? The East Cape is a place many have found irresistible: you have access to all services, schools, hospitals, grocery shopping and the freshest seafood available. You can practice scuba diving, snorkeling, go fishing early in the mornings and during the winter, the high winds are ideal to practice kite surfing. Los Barriles prides itself with one certified kite boarding school since 1998, Exotikite and a new Marina with a Pete Dye world class golf course is developing in La Ribera. The area offers something suitable to everyone!
Owning is really easy too, and great deals are available. Nearby Casa Bitsy you can find Playa Colorada Lot # 18 available. It is also one block off the beach and offers 2,796.67 sq mts of land. With all services on place, it is offered at $99,000 USD.
If one is to count blessings, we were blessed with great weather in one of the most beautiful settings in the area. Sunday morning, as I went for a last walk by the beach, I made a note to myself to always remember this moment, and to share it with you. I have been living in Baja for almost 6 years now and I feel like I belong here, all clichés aside. Come to Baja, explore it, live it… and fall in love with it; she is eagerly waiting to love you back.
